Planning a Walt Disney World vacation usually starts with one enormous decision: where are you going to stay?For guests visiting in 2027, that decision could be more complicated than usual.Disney World has more than 30 hotel properties across its sprawling resort, giving vacationers everything from relatively affordable Value Resorts to Deluxe accommodations within walking distance of the theme parks. Instead, guests booked at these properties should look closely at their dates and decide whether altering their hotel reservation could result in a better trip.Some interruptions will last only days. Others could continue for months.And when you’re potentially spending thousands of dollars on a Disney World vacation, knowing exactly what you’re getting matters.10 Disney World Hotels Have 2027 ConcernsThe good news is that Disney isn’t shutting down 10 hotels.The more complicated news is that guests staying at certain properties could encounter everything from construction noise and blocked pathways to closed pools and unavailable transportation.Following reports from AllEars, here are the 10 properties worth putting on alteration notice:Disney’s Pop Century ResortDisney’s Art of Animation ResortDisney’s All-Star Movies ResortDisney’s Animal Kingdom LodgeDisney’s Beach Club ResortDisney’s BoardWalk InnDisney’s Coronado Springs ResortDisney’s Contemporary ResortDisney’s Grand Floridian Resort & SpaDisney’s Port Orleans Resort – RiversideImportantly, you shouldn’t treat every hotel on that list equally.A three-minute walk around construction walls isn’t necessarily worth changing hotels. Losing one of the biggest amenities you specifically booked a resort to use could be.That’s why guests need to look at exactly what’s changing.Skyliner Resorts Face an Early 2027 ProblemDisney’s Pop Century Resort and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort share one of the most useful transportation options anywhere on property: the Disney Skyliner.That becomes a problem from January 24 through January 30, 2027.The Disney Skyliner is scheduled to close for refurbishment during that period, temporarily removing the gondola transportation that makes these two Value Resorts especially attractive.If you’ve booked Pop Century specifically because you want Skyliner access to EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’d seriously consider altering those dates.Why pay for a particular convenience when you already know it won’t be available?Art of Animation has another issue.Guest rooms and family suites are scheduled to receive updates during summer 2027. Disney hasn’t confirmed exact beginning and ending dates, but the work could result in closed areas and daytime construction noise.That makes Art of Animation one of the properties worth watching especially closely.Credit: DisneyTwo More Resorts Have Room RefurbishmentsDisney’s All-Star Movies Resort is also entering 2027 with construction underway.Guest-room refurbishment is expected to continue through January. Guests could encounter construction activity and blocked walking paths, with alternate routes potentially required.The timing makes this relatively easy to navigate. Guests visiting later in 2027 shouldn’t have the same concern based on Disney’s current schedule.A similar situation exists at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.Kidani Village’s room refurbishment was completed in May 2026, but work at Jambo House is expected to continue through January 2027.Again, dates matter.A November vacation and a January vacation could produce completely different experiences at the same hotel.Beach Club Work Will Continue for Much of 2027Things get a little trickier at Disney’s Beach Club Resort.Exterior maintenance is expected to continue through late 2027, as AllEars first pointed out.Disney expects guests could see and hear work during daytime hours. Maintenance could also affect views around the property and require guests to use alternate walking routes.That doesn’t automatically make Beach Club a bad choice.Its location remains incredibly convenient for EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the Disney Skyliner. Guests may decide those advantages easily outweigh construction.But Deluxe Resort prices can be substantial.If you’re paying a premium specifically for Beach Club’s atmosphere and surroundings, ongoing exterior work deserves consideration before locking in your reservation.BoardWalk Guests Could Lose a Major AmenityDisney’s BoardWalk Inn presents a different issue.From January 11 through April 2027, Luna Park Pool, Luna Park Crazy Play Area, and Leaping Horse Libations are scheduled to close for routine maintenance. The Villas Pool and Inn Pool will remain available.This is where vacation style becomes extremely important.If you’re spending virtually every waking hour inside the parks, the closure might barely register.Families planning resort days could feel very differently.Pools can become a major part of Disney vacations, particularly when guests intentionally schedule breaks between park days. Someone booking BoardWalk because they expect to spend considerable time enjoying the resort might prefer another EPCOT-area hotel during the closure.Credit: Chad Sparkes, FlickrCoronado Springs Will Have Construction Through SeptemberDisney’s Coronado Springs Resort also makes our alteration list, although its situation might prove less disruptive for many vacationers.The Convention Center is scheduled for refurbishment through late September 2027. The El Centro Corridor and surrounding areas are included in the project, with work occurring in phases and some spaces becoming temporarily inaccessible.There is one important detail, though.The work is planned for overnight hours to reduce its effect on regular resort operations.That could make Coronado Springs an easier hotel to keep on your itinerary compared with properties experiencing daytime construction.Still, guests should know about it before arriving.Contemporary Resort Work Stretches Through Late 2027One of Disney World’s most famous hotels isn’t escaping the refurbishment schedule, either.Work at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is expected to continue in phases through late 2027.Projects involve select areas of the resort, including Bay Lake Tower and the Main Tower atrium. Exterior maintenance on the Main Tower could affect certain views and force guests onto alternate walking routes.That’s particularly noteworthy because location and views are major selling points here.The Contemporary offers convenient access to Magic Kingdom, including the ability to walk between the hotel and park.We wouldn’t immediately abandon a Contemporary reservation because refurbishment is happening somewhere around the property. But we’d absolutely determine what work is expected during our specific dates before paying Deluxe Resort prices.Credit: jared422_80, FlickrGrand Floridian Guests Should Watch Early 2027Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa has undergone plenty of changes, and work will continue into early 2027.Renovations in select areas, including the covered entrance, are expected to continue during that period. Guests could encounter daytime construction activity and alternate routes around the resort.This is another situation where timing works in guests’ favor.Someone planning a vacation later in 2027 shouldn’t necessarily have the same concern as someone arriving during the first portion of the year.But if you’re already booked during the affected period, it’s worth watching.Port Orleans Riverside Has One of the Longer TimelinesFinally, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside will continue a refurbishment project that has already lasted more than a year.Guest-room renovations are scheduled to continue through August 2027. Disney warns that visitors may see or hear construction while the project continues.That’s a significant portion of the year.Riverside is a large resort, so construction doesn’t necessarily mean every guest will experience major disruption. However, anyone visiting during the first eight months of 2027 should at least know the project remains underway.Credit: DisneyShould You Actually Change Your 2027 Disney World Hotel?Not necessarily.An “alteration notice” isn’t the same thing as an “avoid at all costs” warning.Instead, we’d use it as a reason to reopen your vacation plans and ask one simple question: Is there another Disney hotel offering a better experience for roughly the same price during my dates?If there is, changing could make sense.Disney World vacations aren’t cheap. Resort hotels aren’t simply places where every guest sleeps for eight hours before returning to Magic Kingdom.Transportation, pools, restaurants, atmosphere, location, views, and other amenities all influence what Disney charges.If one of those features will be unavailable during your vacation, you should know before arriving.And that’s what makes 2027 unusual.Ten Disney World hotels already have confirmed projects or interruptions affecting at least some portion of the year. With more than 30 hotel properties around Walt Disney World, that puts roughly three out of every 10 resort options on our radar.That doesn’t mean 30% of all booked vacations will actually be disrupted or need changing. It means nearly 30% of the resort hotel options we’re examining have a known 2027 issue that could make guests reconsider certain dates.Some travelers won’t change anything.Others may move their dates by a week, switch to another Disney hotel, or decide that losing a pool, transportation option, or peaceful resort environment isn’t worth the price they’re paying.Either way, anyone planning a 2027 Disney World vacation should check the refurbishment calendar before making that final payment.Because the hotel you booked months ago might not offer quite the same experience when you finally arrive.The post Nearly 30% of Walt Disney World Vacations in 2027 Put on “Alteration Notice” appeared first on Inside the Magic.
