Emmanuel Petit would be happy for Arsenal to add Victor Osimhen to their squad after the Gunners failed to convince Julian Alvarez to join them this summer.Alvarez had been Arsenal’s main target as the Gunners looked to ensure they only signed world-class players, but he did not want to join them. Atletico Madrid softened their stance on allowing him to leave, but they blocked a transfer to Barcelona, which gave Arsenal an advantage.Arsenal miss out on AlvarezHowever, Arsenal still could not sign Alvarez because he only wanted to move to Barcelona and refused to consider a move to the Emirates this summer. The Gunners therefore missed out on their main target despite having an opportunity to pursue the transfer.Arsenal did not sign another striker despite losing Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli, and Petit believes they should now look to sign Osimhen. The Nigerian has been linked with a move to the Emirates for a long time, although Arsenal do not appear particularly interested in signing him.Petit believes Osimhen has what it takes to perform well for the Gunners and could offer a different option in attack. While he accepts that the Nigerian does not have the same quality as Alvarez, he believes Osimhen would still give the Gunners something different.He said via Team Talk:“A different player, not the same quality as Alvarez. He would bring a powerful presence up front. He’s fast, he’s a fighter, and he has a strong personality. He brings something different than Alvarez, bring him in! They are two different options, but I like them both.”Petit’s comments highlight the possibility of Osimhen providing Arsenal with a different attacking profile. The Gunners have already lost two players who could contribute in attack, but they chose not to add another striker before the transfer window closed.For now, Arsenal must work with their existing attacking options.
