Musician-turned-politician Rachel Magoola has shared advice with fellow parents on how to raise children in today’s digital age, urging them to teach their children the value of hard work rather than exposing them to fame and privilege too early.Magoola shared the advice while responding to a question about why she rarely flaunts her children before cameras or in the public eye.The former Bugweri Woman MP explained that parents should allow their children to build their own identities and careers instead of giving them titles and privileges simply because of their parents’ achievements.“Why should I front my children on camera? So that they start claiming titles and respect which isn’t theirs? When you give a child respect and titles they don’t deserve, they won’t work.” She advised parents to allow their children to start from the bottom so they can understand the effort, discipline and sacrifices required to succeed.“So people should learn that. Let everyone start from where they can and become who they want to be without having to ride on their parents’ achievements and deeds. If you’re to train your child, they must start from the bottom so that they learn from scratch what it takes to make money and what it takes to become famous.” As she prepares to celebrate her 60th birthday, Magoola says she wants to use the milestone to change the perception that growing older is a sign that life is coming to an end.Instead, she views ageing as an opportunity to share knowledge, expertise and life experience with others while giving back to the community.Beyond her music and political career, Magoola revealed that she has been actively involved in community and charity work, particularly supporting teenage mothers and helping some of them return to school. Why Elijah Kitaka writes music but refuses to sell itShe said two of the teenage mothers she supported have since progressed to the point of sitting for their Senior Six examinations.Magoola also revealed plans to launch a foundation aimed at supporting vulnerable communities. The foundation will focus on establishing homes for widows, caring for orphans, supporting teenage mothers and providing access to clean water. She believes these initiatives are part of her broader mission to use her experience and resources to transform lives, insisting that growing older should come with a greater desire to serve, mentor and uplift others.“Nakkiriza bampangula mu kalulu” Rachael Magoola atubuulidde byeyaddamu#DailySoup pic.twitter.com/BVgWw52LLS— SPARK TV (@sparktvuganda) September 1, 2026The post Former MP Rachel Magoola shares parenting wisdom for digital age appeared first on MBU.
