Damion Downs and Taylor Booth are heading to MLS with hopes of getting back on track with their careers. Downs joined St. Louis CITY SC on a season-long loan spell from English second-tier side Southampton, both clubs announced. The 22-year-old forward’s deal also includes a purchase option at the end of 2027 MLS sprint season.Charlotte FC received $350,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money from St. Louis in exchange for Downs’ Discovery Priority.“Damion brings an exciting mix of technical quality, pace and athleticism to our attack,” said St. Louis CITY SC Sporting Director Corey Wray. “He gives us a different profile at the forward position and the flexibility to play in different ways. His ability to combine with his teammates, get in behind and make an impact in the box will give us another weapon in attack. For a player his age, he already has a lot of valuable experience, including time with the U.S. Men’s National Team, and we believe he still has more room to grow. We’re excited to bring him to St. Louis as we look to build on our strong run of form.” Downs did not feature for Southampton this season after making 14 combined appearances between the Saints and Hamburg last campaign. A Germany native, Downs is known for his impact at FC Koln, scoring 10 goals during the 2024-25 2. Bundesliga season and helping the club earn promotion. He remains an option for the U.S. Men’s National Team going forward after featuring at the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup.Taylor Booth returns home with Real Salt Lake loanTaylor Booth is heading back to where it all started.
