Traffic restrictions, diversions around Abids ISKCON temple for Janmashtami - The HinduPublished - September 04, 2026 07:26 am IST - HYDERABADA child selects an idol of Lord Krishna at a shop in Begum Bazaar on Thursday. | Photo Credit: PTITraffic restrictions and diversions will be imposed around the ISKCON Temple at Abids on September 4 in view of Krishna Janmashtami, the Hyderabad Traffic Police said.The restrictions will be in force from 4 a.m. on September 4 to 1 a.m. on September 5, depending on the movement and congregation of devotees.Police advised commuters to avoid Jawaharlal Nehru Road, Abids Circle, Old Hyderabad Collector Office, Chirag Ali Lane and Nampally Station Road, which are likely to witness heavy congestion.Traffic from Gunfoundry and Tilak Road Junction towards Nampally Station Road will be regulated through a halt-and-go system at GPO Junction. If there is heavy crowd movement, vehicles will be diverted towards MJ Market.Similarly, traffic from Jambagh Road and S.A. Bazar Mosque towards GPO Junction will be regulated through a halt-and-go system. If the crowd is heavy, vehicles will not be allowed towards GPO Junction and will instead be diverted at MJ Market towards Gandhi Bhavan and Chapel Road.Traffic from Taj Island and Nampally towards Koti Bank Street will continue through Bharat Petrol Pump, Samachara Hakku Bhavan (Old ACB Lane), Yousuf & Company and Troop Bazar before joining Koti Bank Street.Vehicles coming from the BJP State Office will not be allowed towards Old Hyderabad Collector Office Junction and will be diverted towards MJ Market Road.RTC buses will also be diverted depending on the movement of devotees. Buses from Rangmahal and Jambagh Road will be diverted at MJ Market Junction towards Gandhi Bhavan Road and Nampally Station Road instead of GPO Junction and Abids Circle. Buses from S.A. Bazar Mosque and Afzalgunj will follow the same diversion.Buses from Liberty and Basheerbagh will be diverted at BJR Circle towards A.R. Petrol Pump, while those from Ravindra Bharathi and HTP Junction will be diverted at A.R. Petrol Pump towards Nampally Station Road.Parking has been arranged at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, for devotees attending the temple.The Traffic Police advised commuters to avoid the affected routes and use alternative roads.
