‘I hope you reported her’: Wheelchair user calls out DoorDash after the Dasher left his food in the one spot he couldn’t get to

Wait 5 sec.

A wheelchair user has called out DoorDash in a blistering rant on TikTok after the Dasher who delivered his food left it on a rock just off the sidewalk. While this would only be a slight inconvenience for a non-disabled person, for someone who relies on a wheelchair, reaching the food was impossible. “So, I’m paralyzed and I’m really p—ed off,” TikToker “@adaptive98” said as he showed footage from a camera outside his home. He then tells viewers to “look at what this DoorDash driver does.”  The footage shows the Dasher step outside of her vehicle with the food and walk up to the door at the front of the house. A few moments pass before she is seen again, returning to her car with the bag of food still in her hand. “You think she’s about to take it; just leave,” Adaptive says, but then the Dasher makes the inexplicable decision to place the food on a rock near some bushes just off the side of the sidewalk. Advantage can then be seen in the doorcam footage, just after she left, heading to where she placed the food. However, he claimed that he could not get to the food on account of his wheelchair. “Since I’m in a wheelchair, I can’t reach it,” he says, and in the description, he claims it was “impossible” to reach.  @adaptive98 Seriously what the actual f*ck DoorDash!!! she left on top of some rocks that is literally impossible for me to get in my wheelchair. In all my years of ordering DoorDash this has never happened and of course she leaves it in the ONE spot I can’t get to!! #fyp #disability #doordash #doordashdelivery #viraltiktok ♬ original sound – ADAPTIVE He’s then seen returning to his front door empty-handed. Advantage claimed that, due to it being so early in the morning, there was nobody else around to help get the food for him. On the DoorDash website, the company boasts about consumers with disabilities making use of its delivery services to make things easier, but Advantage’s alleged experience shows that it doesn’t always work like that. DoorDash gets called out Advantage didn’t hold back when it came to criticizing the food delivery service. In another video, he said he frequently used DoorDash and had never had anything like this happen before. He also claimed it was actually his mom’s order and that they had tipped for the food already. Viewers advised changing delivery settings so Dashers need a PIN to confirm the order was delivered. However, Advantage claimed he had already set that up. Others told him to “report her,” which he later did. Some commenters also wondered why DoorDash hadn’t responded to the situation, given how Advantage’s video makes the company look, it wouldn’t hurt to take an approach like Uber Eats and reach out to the affected customer through TikTok. Many viewers wanted to know what was running through the Dasher’s mind, and some concluded that she may have been attempting to steal the food. “She was going to take it till she saw the camera.” Wrote one commenter. Advantage seemed to agree, as in his follow-up video he said he believed that the Dasher noticed the camera before she got back in the car, prompting her to change her mind and simply leave it by the sidewalk. Of course, there is no solid answer to explain why the woman decided to leave the food where she did. All we can say for sure is that it caused a great deal of inconvenience for the DoorDash customer waiting for it.
