The Supreme Court ruled the Bar Council of India has no power over law students. Educational institutions must regulate student conduct under their own norms. The court set aside BCI notifications concerning NALSAR University students. This decision came after BCI's intervention in a student campaign against the CJI. BCI cannot control students before they become advocates.
