TikTok personality Issa Muwonge, commonly known as Katwalo, has been remanded to Luzira Prison after being charged with obtaining money by false pretence in an alleged fraudulent gold deal involving $85,300 (about Shs320 million).Muwonge, 49, a resident of Bulindo in Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, appeared before City Hall Court Senior Principal Grade One Magistrate Nicholas Aisu on Wednesday, where the charges were read to him. However, upon arriving in the United Arab Emirates, he reportedly did not receive the consignment. Instead, prosecutors allege that he was subjected to further requests for money and what they describe as false representations.The matter was subsequently reported to police, with Muwonge and Asiimwe named as the primary recipients of the money.Muwonge will remain in custody pending his return to court on September 21, when the hearing is scheduled to begin.
