A 39-year-old man has been placed in pre-trial detention in France over the alleged sexual assault of a young woman aboard a Ryanair flight from Malta to Nantes.The alleged incident took place on 19th July, when a 22-year-old passenger suffered a medical episode and temporarily lost consciousness during the flight.The passenger seated next to her allegedly took advantage of her vulnerable state and sexually assaulted her. She reported the incident to authorities after the plane landed in Nantes.The suspect was eventually arrested by French border police at Nantes Atlantique Airport on 31st August, as he arrived on a separate flight.The man has denied the allegations. However, prosecutors said DNA analysis linked him to the case.He was placed in pre-trial detention on 2nd September and is expected to stand trial on 28th October on a charge of sexual assault of a vulnerable person.•
