Prime Minister Robert Abela has said it would be “premature” to comment on Melvin Theuma’s presidential pardon following the acquittal of Yorgen Fenech. Speaking during a press conference, Abela was asked about the pardon granted to Theuma and whether it should now be reconsidered following the outcome of the trial. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Abela said it was not the time to debate the pardon, particularly given that police have been ordered to continue investigating aspects of the case. “It is premature to comment on the pardon,” Abela said, warning that doing so at this stage could risk prejudicing ongoing investigations. He added that if an institution has been ordered to investigate a matter, it should be allowed to carry out that work before conclusions are drawn.•
