JJ Watt has responded to claims were that he inadvertently revealed the Minnesota Vikings’ plans for quarterback J.J. There was some speculation prior to the team’s roster cuts over whether McCarthy would even be named in the 53-man squad after a tumultuous time since his arrival into the NFL as the 10th overall pick in 2024. Missing his entire rookie season which came fresh off leading the Wolverines to a National Championship due to injury, McCarthy’s introductory season to the NFL wasn’t a particularly welcoming one. Making 10 appearances (6-4 record) due to another injury-laden year, McCarthy struggled with his passing accuracy, completing just 57.6 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns. He also recorded 12 interceptions. With a former No. 1 overall pick in Murray now set to suit up under center, the Vikings have now upgraded the position with someone with over 20,400 passing yards and 121 touchdowns of experience. Wentz is also an NFL-proven Super Bowl winner who has an additional nine years of experience over McCarthy.
