The unbeaten Dr Rascal will take his chance in the G1 Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes at The Curragh on September 13, according to trainer Oliver Cole.Racing for Charlie and Julie Rosier, the son of Sottsass won on debut at Leicester in June, before taking an Ascot novice in July. He defeated the subsequent G3 Acomb Stakes hero Haffner (Justify) in the G2 Vintage Stakes at Goodwood later that month.Cole, whose confidence in his charge has been enhanced by a recent away day, said, “I'm very much looking forward to taking him to Ireland. We took him to Newbury for a racecourse gallop last Friday and he worked really well.“He's got an amazing constitution and when we took him to Newbury he was very relaxed and taking everything in his stride, he's got the most amazing mentality and doesn't get wound up.“I think he's still improving and is lightly raced for a reason, he's a big horse and is one we're very much hoping will be next year's horse.”Stablemate Silver Dominion (Gleneagles) will take in the G2 Betfred Champagne Stakes at Doncaster on Saturday, September 12. A winner at first asking at Newbury in June, he resurfaced with a second in the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes at Ascot behind future G3 Solario Stakes winner Alfred Wallace (Dubawi) two starts later in July. In his latest test, the G3 Prix Francois Boutin, the Fitri Hay and Cannings Down-owned colt found only Avec Toi (No Nay Never) too good on August 16.Cole said, “He's going to go to the Champagne Stakes and he's in good form. I'm looking forward to seeing him again and he ran so well behind Avec Toi in Deauville.“He did an easy bit of work on Tuesday morning and might do another easy bit next week and then he will be ready.”The post Cole Pointing Dr Rascal To National Stakes appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
