The St Jeanne Antide Foundation (SJAF) has launched its annual “Be a Back-to-School Hero: Pave the Way for Learning!” campaign, calling on individuals, businesses and communities to help children from vulnerable families start the new scholastic year with the supplies they need.Running since 2019, the initiative supports families facing financial hardship by providing essential school items, helping ensure children can begin the school year prepared and with dignity. The Foundation explained that for many households already struggling with rising living costs, back-to-school expenses can place additional pressure on family budgets.Items such as school bags, copybooks, stationery, art supplies, calculators, shoes and other classroom essentials can quickly add up, leaving some parents facing difficult choices. To help bridge the gap, SJAF is encouraging organisations and members of the public to contribute through workplace collections, financial donations or vouchers that can be used to purchase school supplies.Among the most urgently needed items this year are white school trainers, with the Foundation noting that vouchers for shoe shops are particularly valuable because they allow families to obtain the correct size and fit for each child.SJAF stressed that the campaign goes beyond simply providing stationery.“No child should feel different or unprepared for school simply because their family is experiencing financial hardship,” the Foundation said. The organisation also highlighted that even small donations can make a meaningful difference, whether it’s a packet of pens, a few copybooks, a school bag or a new pair of trainers. Those interested in supporting the initiative are encouraged to get in touch with the Foundation to coordinate donations or learn more about the campaign. As the new school year approaches, SJAF hopes the community can once again come together to help children walk into the classroom feeling prepared, included and ready to learn. Those who wish to donate can do so online on their website.Share to help families in need!•
