Noah Brown’s NFL career is in jeopardy. The veteran wide receiver may perhaps be best remembered for being in the end zone to catch the football from Jayden Daniels‘ Hail Mary attempt for a walk-off touchdown against the Chicago Bears back in 2024. Brown took a while to settle into life in the NFLGettyBut just eight days after signing with the Las Vegas Raiders, the 30-year-old wideout was cut. A seventh-round NFL Draft pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2017, it wouldn’t be until his fifth season in the league in 2022 when he would enjoy a breakout year. Brown made 13 starts – 16 games in total – and had 43 receptions for 555 receiving yards and three touchdowns.This saw him sign a one-year deal with the Houston Texans for the 2023 season, although he would feature in just 10 games due to injury, with his career-best game coming when he recorded seven catches for 172 yards against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10. Although he re-signed with the Texans in March 2024, the 6-foot-2, 225 poind receiver was released six months later, before winding up on the Washington Commanders. There, he reunited with former Cowboys coach Dan Quinn – now the Commanders head coach – and spent two years in the Burgundy and Gold, recording 40 receptions for 536 yards and one score – the infamous Hail Mary. It appeared that Brown would be headed to the Raiders for the 2026 season, penning a deal with the organization on August 16, and releasing defensive tackle Benito Jones to accommodate the signing. However, just six days after the team announced his arrival to the team, they then announced that they had waived the eight-year veteran. What’s next for Noah Brown?Whilst he is certainly not a WR1 or WR2, Brown has proven himself to be a complementary receiver, who brings experience in the form of 91 NFL games. As of now, the Raiders’ receiving depth chart lacks such experience, with the likes of Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor, Jack Bech, Dont’e Thornton, and rookie sixth-round pick Malik Benson currently on the squad. Brown has bounced around the league since leaving the Cowboys in 2022GettyBrown was released by the Raiders just eight days after signingGettyOf the aforementioned group, Nailor has the most league experience, having played 55 games across four seasons, totalling 1,066 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. It remains to be seen what lies in store for Brown in the future, with him back on the market as a free agent. Some fasn have called for him to reunite with the Texans. “F it. Bring him back Nick,” wrote Houston Stressans’ Garret Wiliams. “Bring him back to the Texans and cut someone else,” a second fan wrote. “Noah Brown coming back to the Houston Texans would be fun. But after the Kayshon Boutte trade today is there enough balls to go around in that much improved Texans offense? All I know is Noah Brown looked like the best wide receiver in the NFL in November 2023 playing with [CJ] Stroud,” a third wrote. Indeed, the Texans managed to swing a trade with the New England Patriots for Kayshon Boutte, who had a career-high six touchdowns in 2025 to give Stroud a new weapon. But with their wide receiver depth fairly limited behind Nico Collins and Xavier Hutchinson, and with nobody yet quite able to predict how Tank Dell will look after a long time recovering from a gruesome lower leg injury in 2024, taking a punt on Brown on a one-year, low money deal could be a win-win for all parties. If not, Brown may struggle to find a home elsewhere, and could perhaps be forced into making a retirement decision sooner rather than later.
