Thus in the rematch Sunday, Commitment Fund was predictably 7-5 and Sidearm was the longest shot in the seven-horse field at 25-1 in his seventh start. Sidearm stalked in solo second, opened up into the stretch then clung to a dissipating nose advantage at the wire. Perhaps the result was more surprising to bettors than it was to Chad Brown, trainer of runner-up Commitment Fund (above). Brown campaigned Sidearm's remarkable New York-bred half-brother Offering Plan, who ran Beyers between 91 and 105 in each of his last 24 starts from age three to seven.
