Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has accepted an apology from former NDC Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, for comments he made during a discussion on a media platform.Mr Gyamfi said he considers Mr Vanderpuye a senior brother and does not believe the former lawmaker intended to cause him harm, stressing that the matter has now been resolved between them.Mr Gyamfi said he had spoken with Mr Vanderpuye privately and both had agreed to put the matter behind them.“My good brother, Honourable Nii Lante Vanderpuye, is one of the people who have been very supportive of my young political career projection. I consider him a senior brother and I know that he harbours no ill will towards me,” he said in an interview on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday.Mr Gyamfi acknowledged that disagreements can arise from the way statements are communicated, particularly within a political organisation where members regularly engage in public debate.He said Mr Vanderpuye’s subsequent apology was sufficient to bring the matter to a close.“We are all not perfect. At times, in communicating something, it may come across in a way we didn’t intend it,” Mr Gyamfi said.According to him, the former MP’s willingness to acknowledge the problem and apologise demonstrated that there was no need to prolong the disagreement.“The man says he is sorry. I believe it ends there,” he added.Mr Gyamfi disclosed that he and Mr Vanderpuye had a cordial conversation on Friday, August 21, during which they discussed the matter and resolved their differences. READ ALSO: Nii Lante Vanderpuye apologises to Sammy Gyamfi, NDC, over GoldBod comments“Yesterday, I had a very hearty conversation with him and we put it behind us,” he said.The GoldBod CEO’s comments come after Mr Vanderpuye issued an unreserved apology to him and the NDC over remarks he made during a discussion.In his statement, Mr Vanderpuye said he had subsequently listened to his own comments and reflected on the discussion before concluding that he had failed to communicate his intended position properly.Mr Gyamfi said the priority for members of the governing NDC should be to maintain unity and concentrate on the party’s broader political responsibilities rather than allow internal disagreements to become prolonged public disputes.He stressed that the party has important work ahead of it.“At the end of the day, we in the NDC have a party to build and a nation to govern,” he said.The GoldBod CEO praised the former MP’s contribution to his political development and emphasised their personal relationship.By describing Mr Vanderpuye as someone who has supported his political career and as a “senior brother”, Mr Gyamfi sought to put the episode in the context of a broader relationship within the NDC.
