Solar car parking at Secretariat by December: Komatireddy - The HinduUpdated - August 22, 2026 08:02 pm ISTMinister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy interacting with officials in Hyderabad on Saturday.The proposed shaded solar car parking facility at the Telangana Secretariat is likely to be completed by December this year, according to Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy.The Minister, who reviewed the progress of road constructions and other projects at the Secretariat on Saturday, said the solar parking structures on the northern, western and southern sides did not affect the elevation of the Secretariat building and were limited to the building’s structural level.As per the design discussed earlier in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, solar-panel-equipped parking facilities would be provided in two rows on the northern side, three rows on the southern side and one row on the western side. Officials presented the designs to the Minister during the review.The project is taken up at an estimated cost of ₹26.81 crore, and the solar car parking facility would generate around 90,000 units of electricity for the Secretariat and help reduce its monthly electricity bill by about 16% once commissioned.The Minister also directed officials to accelerate the construction of roads under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF), Setu Bandhan bridges and railway overbridges (ROBs) across Telangana and ensure that the works are completed within the stipulated deadlines.Officials informed the Minister that 316 works covering 3,918 km of roads, with an estimated cost of ₹5,159 crore, had been sanctioned so far. While some of the works were ready to commence, a majority were in the final stages of completion.Mr. Venkat Reddy said the progress of works taken up during 2025-26, covering 422.36 km at a cost of ₹868 crore, was satisfactory, and appreciated the officials for the progress.He expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Narketpally bridge, being constructed under the Setu Bandhan scheme at a cost of ₹76 crore.
