Photography is taking centre stage in Valletta as 25 Maltese photographers come together for ‘One Image. Many Visions’, a month-long exhibition showcasing different perspectives from across Malta’s photographic scene. The exhibition opened on World Photography Day on 19th August at the Cremona Gallery within the Malta Postal Museum, with each participating photographer given one challenge: present one previously unexhibited photograph that best represents their artistic vision. There is no single theme or style connecting the works. Instead, visitors can expect everything from documentary and street photography to portraits, landscapes, architecture and fine art.The exhibition brings together different generations of photographers, while also paying tribute to Malta’s photographic pioneers, including those whose names may have been lost over time but whose photographs continue to preserve the country’s history. It is also endorsed by the Malta Photographic Society, which is presenting a satellite exhibition at the museum’s Ellis Gallery featuring works by another 10 photographers.Curator David ‘dp’ Attard said the exhibitions aim to transform the museum into “a vibrant centre for photography”, celebrating the different perspectives found within contemporary Maltese photography.‘One Image. Many Visions’ runs until 19th September at the Malta Postal Museum, 135 Archbishop Street, Valletta, with admission free. The 25 participating photographers are:Martin Agius, Alex Attard, David ‘dp’ Attard, Marco Bilocca, Sarah Bonaci, Ruben Buhagiar, Stephen Buhagiar, Leonard Cocks, Johann Debono, Therese Debono, Monique Gatt, Emma Grima, Chelsea Muscat, Ed Muscat Azzopardi, Vince Piscopo, Dragana Rankovic, the late Zvezdan Reljic, Karl Sammut, Kim Sammut, Ramon Sammut, Mark Scicluna, Joseph P Smith, Sasha Vella, Elisa Von Brockdorf and Darrin Zammit Lupi. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.Will you be checking it out?•
