Telangana High Court to deliver verdict on disqualification petitions against MLA Danam Nagender on September 16 - The HinduUpdated - August 21, 2026 09:43 pm IST - HYDERABADThe Telangana High Court will pronounce on September 16 its verdict in the two writ petitions challenging the decision of the State Assembly Speaker dismissing the petitions seeking disqualification of Danam Nagender, who contested as Congress nominee from Secunderabad Lok Sabha having won as Khairatabad MLA on BRS ticket. The bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin, which heard contentions of the counsels for past four days, on Friday reserved orders in the two writ petitions. While one petition questioning the decision of the Speaker was filed by the Bharatiya Janata Legislature Party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, the second one was filed by BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy. A total of 10 writ petitions were filed challenging the dismissal of disqualification petitions against nine MLAS, who were accused of joining the ruling Congress party having been elected as nominees of BRS in December of 2023 Assembly elections in Telangana. Two of them were against Danam Nagender. The remaining eight pleas were filed by BRS legislators K. Sanjay against T. Prakash Goud and A. Gandhi, K.P. Vivekanand against Tellam Venkat Rao and Kadiam Srihari, G. Jagadish Reddy against Parige Srinivas Reddy and M. Sanjay Kumar, Chinta Prabhakar against Kale Yadaiah, and Palla Rajeshwar Reddy against Bandla Krishnamohan Reddy. The division bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the contentions presented by advocates Gandra Mohan Rao and K. Vivek Reddy for the two petitioners and A. Tulsi Raj Gokul for the Assembly Speaker, standing counsel for State Legislature. The arguments in the case of the other eight MLAs would continue from September 16.
