Halloween has completely taken over the theme parks, and we are only in late August.Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has been running at Magic Kingdom for weeks now, with multiple nights already sold out. Oogie Boogie Bash is underway at Disney California Adventure. Halloween Time officially kicked off at Disneyland Resort on August 21, which means Main Street, U.S.A. is already covered in character pumpkins and seasonal decor. And outside the Disney bubble, Halloween Horror Nights is getting ready to kick off later this week at Universal. If you feel like the season arrived early this year, you are not imagining it. Halloween at the Disney parks is now a two-month event, and the merchandise that comes with it has become just as much of a draw as the parties themselves.Which brings me to today and to Disneyland, where two new pieces just showed up that will be very hard for collectors to ignore.I am going to be honest about my bias here. If these were at Walt Disney World, I would be running to get that Mickey pumpkin. Not walking. Running.Credit: Disney Parks BlogGlass Mickey Pumpkin FigurineThe new blown-glass Mickey pumpkin is priced at $126.It is a bright orange jack-o’-lantern with big oval eyes and a wide smile, topped with a swirling curlicue green stem and leaf. The whole thing sits on a cylindrical brown base. What sells it is that it reads as a Mickey pumpkin without being a Mickey head slapped onto a pumpkin shape. The face is carved rather than applied, the way an actual jack-o’-lantern would be, and the curling stem gives it movement that a straight stem would not.It is also cheerful rather than spooky, which matters more than it sounds. A piece like this can stay out through the whole fall season instead of just the last week of October.Glass Poison ApplesThe glass poison apples are $65 each and sold individually. These are miniatures of the apple that the Evil Queen offers Snow White while disguised as the Old Hag. One sparkles red and one sparkles black. Each one has the dripping skeleton face that appears on the poisoned apple in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and each is topped with a short gold stem and a single leaf.Selling them individually is the smart part, and probably the frustrating part. You can buy just the red one if that is the version you want. But putting out a red and a black in the same debut, at the same size, with the same stem, is essentially daring collectors to buy both. That is a $130 decision for a pair of miniatures, and plenty of people are going to make it.The black one is the more unusual piece of the two. Black glass with sparkle is not a finish Disney uses often, and it photographs completely differently from the red.Where to Find Them at DisneylandBoth the pumpkin and the apples were found at Crystal Arts at Disneyland Park. That location matters. Crystal Arts has been a Main Street, U.S.A. fixture for decades, and it is where guests go specifically for blown glass rather than general merchandise. Seasonal glass tends to appear there first and tends to move quickly.Because these are blown glass, no two pieces are going to be perfectly identical. Slight variations in the swirl of a stem or the shape of a face are part of the medium. If you are particular, it is worth looking at more than one.Credit: Jeremy Thompson, FlickrWhy This Is Not at Walt Disney WorldThis is the part that stings for those of us on the East Coast.Disneyland and Walt Disney World do not run identical Halloween merchandise lines. Some items cross over; plenty do not, and blown glass, in particular, tends to remain tied to the shop that produces and sells it.Walt Disney World has its own glass offerings, but the Mickey pumpkin figurine and the poison apples are Disneyland items right now. There is no announcement that either is heading east.So if you want one and you are not going to California this fall, your options are limited. That is a genuinely annoying sentence to type.Credit: DisneyThe Rest of Halloween Time at DisneylandThe glass pieces are arriving in the middle of a fully loaded season.Main Street, U.S.A., is decked out with pumpkins representing favorite characters and attractions. A dedicated Disneyland Park Halloween Time map is available for guests to pick up at the entrance.Fall menus are live across the resort, with Halloween-inspired food and sweet treats at eateries throughout both parks. The Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade is running daily down Main Street, U.S.A.Put together, it is one of the strongest seasonal packages Disneyland runs all year, and the merchandise is a real part of that rather than an afterthought. If You Are Going to DisneylandA few things worth keeping in mind.Seasonal glass does not typically restock at a predictable pace. If a piece is out and you want it, buying it when you see it is usually the right call.Prices here are firm. $126 for the pumpkin, $65 per apple. Making it $191 if you get a pumpkin and one apple. So, almost $200 just on Halloween merchandise. And if you are choosing between the two apples, look at them side by side in person if you can. The red and the black catch light very differently, and photos do not fully capture it.I will be over here on the wrong coast, admiring that pumpkin from a distance and hoping something similar turns up in Florida before the season ends.Source: WDW News Today for the debut of the glass Mickey pumpkin figurine and glass poison apples at Disneyland Resort. The post New Disneyland Halloween Merchandise Will Cost Guests Almost $200 appeared first on Inside the Magic.
