Amazon MGM’s search for its new James Bond is reportedly nearing its conclusion.The studio’s untitled James Bond reboot, which is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), is reportedly entering the final stages of casting.Credit: MGM/EON ProductionsAccording to industry insider Daniel Richtman, the studio is in the “final round” and “might have already found their guy.”Recently, Amy Pascal (Spider-Man: Brand New Day), who’s a producer on the new film alongside David Heyman (the Harry Potter films), told Deadline that we may learn who the new 007 is by the end of this year.But while fans wait to discover who will inherit the iconic role from Daniel Craig, the Bond franchise has already introduced another actor as 007 this year: Irish star Patrick Gibson.Credit: MGM/EON ProductionsWhere Have You Seen the New 007 Before?Gibson may not yet be a household name, but audiences are likely to recognize him from several recent projects.The Irish actor first gained wider attention as Steve Winchell in Netflix’s The OA, before appearing in shows including The White Princess, Guerrilla, Before We Die, and Shadow and Bone. Rouse is known for appearing in The Crown, as well as playing Charlie Bucket in Sam Mendes’ stage production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.The audio drama is scheduled for release in October.The literary Bond is also having a particularly busy year.
