A summer BBQ that started as a family initiative more than 16 years ago has just achieved its biggest fundraising total yet, raising €11,000 for Id-Dar tal-Providenza.The annual event is organised by Pierre Vella Petroni, Anne Marie Xuereb and their family at their home, bringing together friends, supporters and volunteers for an evening dedicated to a good cause. This year, around 150 people attended, helping the fundraiser reach a record €11,000.Mgr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked the organisers, volunteers, sponsors and everyone who attended for making the event possible. The money will go towards supporting Id-Dar tal-Providenza’s residential services for people with disabilities. And keeping those services running requires significant resources, with the organisation needing around €8 million every year to cover its operating costs.“This event would not have been possible without the invaluable help of family and friends who lent a hand with the logistics and cooking, as well as everyone who attended and the companies that immediately agreed to support this noble cause,” the organisers said.Adding some music to the evening, Maltese singer Kurt Calleja provided the entertainment for this year’s fundraiser. After more than 16 years of summer BBQs, the latest record total marks another milestone for the family initiative, and another €11,000 towards supporting the work carried out every day by Id-Dar tal-Providenza.Share this amazing initiative! •
