# AMD Aug 27: $485 Opens the DoorAdvanced Micro Devices, Inc.NASDAQ:AMDBullBearInsights AMD looks much cleaner to me than it did a few days ago. The daily chart is still nowhere near the July high around **$585**, but price has stopped making new lows and is starting to build again around the $480 area. That doesn’t make AMD bullish by itself. What matters now is whether buyers can finally push through the resistance sitting directly above price. On the 15-minute chart, AMD is trading around **$483 to $485** after recovering from the $472 area. The short-term structure has improved. Price is making higher lows, momentum has turned back up, and RSI is around 62. The problem is obvious though. AMD is moving directly into resistance. I have the first important area around **$485 to $487.50**. That also lines up almost perfectly with the GEX map. The GEX levels above price are stacked around **$482.50, $485, $487.50, $490 and $500**. The level I care about first is **$485**. AMD has already tested around there. If price keeps touching $485 but cannot stay above it, I would expect more sideways trading or another pullback. If AMD gets above $485 and holds it, then **$487.50 and $490** become the next test. For me, $490 matters more. There is stronger positioning around that area, and it also sits near the upper part of the short-term resistance zone on the 15-minute chart. A move to $490 is not the same thing as a breakout. I want to see what happens when price gets there. If AMD clears $490 and stays above it, then **$500** becomes much more interesting. That would also start changing the larger 4-hour structure. The downside is pretty straightforward. The first area I’m watching is around **$480**. That’s sitting close to current price and lines up with both the chart and the GEX map. If AMD loses $480, I’m watching **$479**, then **$475**. Below that, **$472.50 to $470** becomes the area where I would expect buyers to show up again. That zone also lines up with the recent 15-minute demand area. If AMD loses $470 cleanly, I would stop looking at this as a simple pullback. Then the chart starts opening back toward the mid-$460s, and the larger $450 level becomes relevant again. What I like about AMD for Aug. 27 is that the trade doesn’t need a complicated story. Price is sitting right underneath resistance. The GEX levels are stacked directly above it. And buyers are starting to press. So I’m watching one thing first. Can AMD turn **$485 from resistance into support?** If it can, I like $487.50 and $490 next. Above $490, I start thinking about $500. If $485 rejects again, I wait. If $480 fails, I become more cautious. And if $470 breaks, the setup changes completely. AMD is close. But close to a breakout and actually breaking out are two very different trades.
