TFB did some testing of Swedish precision at the heart of Stockholm's newest premier shooting center. Scandinavia Sport Shooting Center sits centrally in Stockholm with dynamic rifle and pistol ranges along with shooting biographs equipped with interactive HD video scenarios, making it a pretty ideal and exciting venue for evaluating four distinct configurations of the Steen Defense platform. Over the course of a facility-wide tour and range session, we cycled through Steen Defense's modular carbines designed and manufactured in Sweden, testing the 10.5-inch and 12.5-inch Multicaliber Combat Rifles (one so new it didn’t get its coat of Cerakote yet), the MCRC compact 7.5-inch configuration, and the full-length 18-inch Special Purpose Rifle - all chambered in 5.56 NATO. One of SSSC’s cinematic live firing ranges in central Stockholm, made by MILO ranges. The range opened in the spring of 2026 and must be one of Europe’s most modern shooting ranges, and the cinema can produce much more advanced sequences and videos than yellow rings. The MCR's proprietary handguard system and enhanced receiver lockup translate to surprisingly flat shooting across all barrel lengths. The optics were a mix of EOTech, Aimpoint and LPVO. Each rifle cycled ammunition cleanly through the various stages of fire, the direct impingement action performing consistently in a controlled indoor environment. Swedish rifle-building has long traded on precision and reliability, and the MCR platform delivers on both fronts across its entire range. We shot these rifles both with and without suppressors. Which of these four configurations most interests you for your own shooting? The compact room-clearer, or the extended-range precision work of the SPR? Personally, I’m waiting for the Steen Defense in 9x19mm.
