(World Oil) – Ovintiv has entered into more than 60 transactions totaling approximately $460 million so far in 2026, adding about 41,000 net acres and 240 drilling locations across its Permian and Montney assets. The acquisitions are part of Ovintiv’s 2026 “ground game” program, which targets smaller transactions intended to expand and strengthen the company’s existing acreage positions. The 240 net locations include 190 base locations and 50 upside locations, based on 10,000-ft-equivalent wells. In the Permian basin, Ovintiv is acquiring approximately 21,000 net acres and 120 well locations in the Midland basin for about $230 million. The inventory consists of 80 base locations and 40 upside locations.Ovintiv is investing another $230 million in the Montney, where it is acquiring approximately 20,000 net acres and 120 locations in the liquids-rich Alberta oil window. Those assets include 110 base locations and 10 upside locations. The company estimates the acquisitions at approximately $11,000/net acre and $1.3 million to $1.7 million per well location after adjusting for the assets’ minimal existing production.Combined with 260 locations generated through organic inventory enhancements, the transactions will bring Ovintiv’s total 2026 additions to approximately 500 net 10,000-ft-equivalent well locations.Ovintiv expects the remaining transactions included in the program to close before year-end.
