Forget Eggs Benedict, TANVI Is Bringing A Whole New Brunch To St George’s Bay

Wait 5 sec.

There are only so many eggs Benedict a person can eat before brunch starts needing a little more imagination. That’s exactly what TANVI is bringing to St George’s Bay with its Weekend Brunch Experience: three courses of light, contemporary Indian food, designed to be shared around the table every Saturday and Sunday. For €40 per person, it opens with a spread of starters meant for passing around: delicately cured Mediterranean fish with almond and citrus pachadi, char-grilled chicken marinated in aromatic spices and coriander, onion fritters with carom seeds and tamarind chutney and a Maharashtrian tomato dish served with paneer and kulcha. Then comes the main event, arriving family-style, a 24-hour slow-braised lamb biryani, served with black lentils slow-cooked in butter and spices, freshly baked tandoor naan topped with garlic and a green mango and cucumber salad.Dessert is a creamy rice pudding infused with saffron and cardamom. The kind of thing you insist you don’t have room for and then finish anyway. If your idea of Indian food still begins and ends with a heavy curry followed by an immediate need for a nap, this is a different proposition entirely. TANVI’s whole approach is built on lighter, contemporary Indian cooking. Familiar flavours, spices and techniques, presented in a fresher, more modern way.For an additional €15 per person, you can add two hours of unlimited Villa Folini Prosecco and selected wines from Fratelli in Maharashtra. And if you’ve never had Indian wine with Indian food, that alone is worth the upgrade. The brunch runs from 12pm to 4.30pm every Saturday and Sunday, which leaves plenty of time to settle in, order another glass, tear into some naan and let lunch quietly become the main event of the day.It also looks spectacular. Colourful small plates dotted with herbs, citrus and chilli and a biryani that arrives with genuine theatre.Malta certainly isn’t short on places to spend a long weekend lunch. But if your brunch group has exhausted the usual circuit of pancakes, poached eggs and avocado toast, there’s now another option on the table.Preferably one covered in biryani, naan and a few chilled glasses of Prosecco.TANVI’s Weekend Brunch Experience takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 12pm to 4.30pm in St George’s Bay. €40 per person for the three-course sharing menu, or €55 per person with two hours of unlimited Prosecco and selected wines.
