Two unidentified men were killed and two others injured in a road crash involving three trucks at Naluvule along the Kampala-Gulu highway in Luwero district. The fatal crash occurred at about 1:30 am on Saturday, August 22, involving a white Fuso truck, registration number UBA 879L; a red Sino truck, registration number UBJ 984L, loaded with sand; and a red Mercedes Actros truck, registration number CGO 6435AC/07.The drivers of all three vehicles had not been identified by the time of reporting. According to Savannah Region Police spokesperson Sam Twineamazima, preliminary investigations indicate that the Fuso truck was travelling from Kampala towards Luwero when it collided with the stationary Mercedes Actros, which had broken down along the road, fatally striking one of its occupants.Twineamazima said the strong headlights of the oncoming Sino truck are also suspected to have contributed to the crash. He said the Sino truck driver reportedly swerved to avoid a head-on collision, causing the truck to overturn. Two unidentified male adults who were reportedly seated on top of the sand being transported by the Sino truck died at the scene. Two other passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment.Police were notified, and a team visited the scene, documented the crash and drew a sketch plan as investigations got underway. The bodies of the deceased were taken to Luwero General Hospital mortuary for postmortem. The Fuso truck was towed to Luwero Police Station, while the Sino and Mercedes Actros trucks remained at the scene pending the arrival of heavier towing equipment from Kampala.Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing. The post Two killed, two injured in Luwero multiple-truck crash appeared first on The Observer Media Ltd.
