At this price and wattage, the bar is high, and a respectable label on the box is not enough.The platform, as with MSI's MAG series, comes from Channel-Well Technology (CWT), a Taiwanese OEM with a long and well-regarded history across mid-to-top-tier PSU design. At 230 VAC, it reaches 93.8%. Both figures comfortably satisfy the Cybenetics and CLEAResult Titanium certification thresholds at 115 VAC. The 230 VAC result is a little harder to explain, as our sample easily met the Cybenetics Titanium figures, yet the Ai1600TS holds a Cybenetics Platinum certification for 230 VAC input. Efficiency peaks at approximately 50% load, while low-load efficiency is very good as well.The fan begins spinning at just above 30% load but is effectively inaudible throughout most of the operating range. There is a speed increase approaching full load, but the unit does not become acoustically prominent under cold ambient conditions. The 12V rail holds to within 0.9% across the full load range, and both the 5V and 3.3V rails regulate to within 0.6%. All three figures sit comfortably below the 1% threshold that characterizes a well-executed high-end design. Ripple filtering is good but not exceptional. The 12V rail peaks at 46mV, the 5V rail at 26mV, and the 3.3V rail at 24mV. All three figures clear the ATX specification limits by a meaningful margin, but stronger ripple suppression on the 12V line would be expected at such a price.During our routine evaluation, we examine the fundamental protection features of all power supply units we review, including Over Current Protection (OCP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Over Power Protection (OPP), and Short Circuit Protection (SCP). Protection circuit behavior is conservative but sound. The 3.3V OCP triggers at 130% of rated current, and the 5V OCP at 128%. The 12V OCP activates at just 116%, which is a tighter margin than seen on many competing units and leaves less headroom for transient load spikes, though it does not present a practical problem for normal high-load operation. The Ai1600TS reads like a bill of materials assembled without negotiation on component quality. The stock fan curve is well-tuned, conservative enough to remain inaudible through most of the operating range and never reaches its ceiling even at maximum load under elevated ambient conditions. For a 1600W unit, that is quite rare. Voltage regulation across all three rails is tight, and the thermal testing produced no signs of stress even under sustained full load in a hot environment. Power quality is very good, but we would have liked to see better ripple filtering at this price point. The price, however, is a serious obstacle. Retailing at $500, the Ai1600TS costs more than twice what comparably performing units typically ask, and the premium is driven almost entirely by the digital interface and the Afterburner ecosystem rather than raw electrical performance.
