Two sea turtles have finally returned to the wild after recovering from serious entanglements at Nature Trust Malta’s rehabilitation centre. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Tarvo and Red-X were released back into the sea today after volunteers helped nurse both turtles back to health.Tarvo was rescued near Ħondoq in Gozo by Kayak Gozo in September 2025 after ingesting fishing line which had also become entangled around a garden chair.Red-X was rescued more recently, in May, after being found with a large entanglement at Little Armier. The rescue took place in rough conditions with assistance from Malta Red Cross lifeguards.After months of care, both turtles made a full recovery and were finally able to return to the sea.Nature Trust Malta said the two cases highlight the dangers marine litter poses to wildlife, urging people to clean up beaches and seas and pick up litter whenever they encounter it.The organisation also reminded the public that the animals it rescues are protected species and that harming them or keeping them as pets is illegal in Malta.Anyone who spots injured or endangered wildlife can contact Wildlife Rescue Team Malta on 99999505.Safe travels, Tarvo and Red-X!Video: Nature Trust – FEE Malta Wildlife Rescue Team•
