HMWS&SB to step up measures for revenue collection - The HinduPublished - August 28, 2026 08:33 pm IST - HYDERABADHyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) managing director K. Ashok Reddy has directed officials to achieve 100% billing coverage, recover long-pending arrears and resolve consumer billing disputes to improve revenue collection.He reviewed the Board’s revenue performance along with joint managing director Mayank Mittal, executive directors, and senior officials.The meeting examined unbilled and unpaid Consumer Account Numbers (CANs), demand and collections at zonal, circle and division levels through a revenue dashboard. Mr. Ashok Reddy expressed concern over connections continuing to receive water despite arrears pending for several years. He instructed officials to inspect such connections and resolve meter, billing and other issues before recovering dues.He further cautioned against indiscriminate disconnections, stating that they could increase disputes and negatively affect revenue. Officials were directed to personally follow up on long-standing arrears. General Managers will handle dues pending for over five years, Deputy General Managers those exceeding one year, and Managers cases pending for more than six months.The Board will identify top defaulters and assign 10 CANs to each manager for focused follow-up. A circle-level committee will also resolve disputes involving bulk connections, missing meters and old bills.Mr. Mittal said that an AI-based revenue dashboard would soon enable faster identification of arrears, disputes and high-priority connections, improving collection efficiency.Published - August 28, 2026 08:33 pm ISTSign in to unlock member-only benefits!Access 10 free stories every monthSave stories to read laterAccess to comment on every storySign-up/manage your newsletter subscriptions with a single clickGet notified by email for early access to discounts & offers on our products${ ind + 1 } ${ device }Last active - ${ la }
