Well, the results are in, and the joke has officially turned into a €500 donation to Puttinu Cares.The whole thing started when the local eatery jokingly posted that a certain Matthew Borg had left without paying for his meal, using the fictional customer as a playful way of showcasing some of its food.But when a real Matthew Borg appeared in the comments, he suggested using all the attention to raise money for a good cause.PANINA ran with the idea, promising to donate €5 to Puttinu Cares for every unique Matthew Borg tagged under a follow-up Facebook post.And Malta delivered.By the end of the challenge, enough different Matthew Borgs had been tagged to raise €320.PANINA owner Kurt Bezzina then decided to round that figure up, bringing the final donation to a generous €500.Kurt has now visited Puttinu Cares to present the donation personally, bringing along some cannoli for the team while he was at it.PANINA thanked everyone who got involved, with a special mention going to the Matthew Borg who first suggested turning the viral marketing stunt into something that could help others.What started with a joke about an unpaid meal ended with €500 going towards an important cause.Well done to PANINA, all the Matthew Borgs who got tagged, and everyone who helped turn a bit of online fun into something positive! •
