An emotional appeal has been launched for donations to help restore Għajnsielem’s church bell tower after it suffered serious damage which can no longer be ignored.In a video appeal, the church is described as the building far more than a place of worship, highlighting the generations of families whose most important moments have unfolded within its walls.“This is not just a church. Not tomorrow, but today.”The appeal also pays tribute to previous generations who built and maintained the church through their work, sacrifices and dedication, describing what they left behind as a legacy that is now at risk.Those behind the initiative said it is now the current generation’s responsibility to protect that heritage, not by building something new, but by preserving what already exists for their children and future generations.“If others took care of the church before us, today it is our turn.”The public is now being encouraged to contribute towards the restoration effort, with the church urging anyone who can help to make a donation.“Be part of this journey.
