A brand-new Avengers: Doomsday (2026) trailer dropped on August 24, and Marvel fans probably weren’t expecting to see the movie’s heroes looking quite like this. We’ve already gotten a much better idea of what Marvel Studios has planned for its next massive Avengers event. Familiar faces are coming back, different corners of the Marvel universe are colliding, and one of the MCU’s most recognizable actors has taken on a dramatically different role. But the latest trailer puts another spin on everything we’ve seen. The footage itself will look very familiar to anyone who watched Marvel’s previous trailer. The heroes, however, have been completely replaced, creating a version of Avengers: Doomsday that fans are already asking to see expanded into something much bigger.Credit: Marvel StudiosDoomsday Is ComingAvengers: Doomsday arrives at a particularly interesting point for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Rather than focusing on a single established Avengers team, the movie will bring together characters from several corners of Marvel’s expanding story. At the center of the conflict will be Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), marking a major change for the actor who spent more than a decade playing Tony Stark/Iron Man.Downey won’t be alone when the Avengers return. The confirmed cast includes Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant-Man, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.Marvel is also bringing in the Fantastic Four, including Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing. Then there are the returning X-Men stars. Patrick Stewart is back as Professor X, Ian McKellen returns as Magneto, James Marsden plays Cyclops again, Rebecca Romijn returns as Mystique, Alan Cumming is Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer is Beast, and Channing Tatum reprises Gambit. That’s only part of the enormous ensemble Marvel has assembled for the movie.Credit: Marvel StudiosMarvel’s Previous Trailer Gave Fans the Reunion They WantedMarvel Studios recently pulled back the curtain considerably with its official Avengers: Doomsday trailer. The footage wastes little time establishing just how ambitious this crossover will be. Professor X and Magneto appear near the beginning, immediately reconnecting the upcoming movie to Marvel’s X-Men history. From there, the crossovers become even bigger.Gambit and Shang-Chi face off, bringing together two characters who entered the MCU through very different paths. Thor also gets his chance against Doom, attempting to bring Stormbreaker down on the villain. Doom stops the attack with almost effortless ease.Yet one of the trailer’s biggest surprises comes at the end.Thor reunites with Steve Rogers, a moment that immediately recalls their years together as Avengers. Steve then summons Mjolnir, proving to Thor that his old friend really is standing in front of him.It was exactly the kind of crowd-pleasing moment Marvel knows how to deliver. Now, fans have gotten another look at that same trailer. This time, every familiar character has undergone a major transformation.Credit: Marvel StudiosThe Entire Doomsday Trailer Has Been RebuiltLEGO released a shot-for-shot recreation of the Avengers: Doomsday trailer on August 24, replacing the live-action heroes and environments with LEGO versions.Instead of simply creating a short parody or loosely borrowing from Marvel’s footage, the new teaser recreates the trailer scene-by-scene. Professor X, Magneto, Gambit, Shang-Chi, Thor, Steve Rogers, and the rest of the characters become minifigures while the environments around them transform into brick-built sets.Even the trailer’s major action beats get the LEGO treatment. The result essentially turns one of Marvel’s biggest upcoming movies into a LEGO Marvel adventure before the actual film has even reached theaters.Fans quickly embraced the unexpected crossover.Across social media, viewers praised the work that went into recreating the footage and started asking for more. Some called for LEGO to create a full-scale version of the movie, while others said the trailer made them even more excited for the officially announced Avengers: Doomsday LEGO sets.Considering how naturally Marvel’s enormous cast translates into LEGO form, it’s easy to understand the reaction. The recreated trailer also offers fans something different without revealing additional plot details. Marvel can keep the movie’s bigger secrets hidden while giving audiences a fun new way to revisit footage they’ve already seen. And with several months remaining before release, excitement surrounding the next Avengers movie is only building.LEGO has officially released a LEGO-ified remake of the ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ trailer. pic.twitter.com/meIaYz4Luz— DiscussingFilm (@DiscussingFilm) August 24, 2026The Real Battle Is Almost HereFans won’t have to wait much longer to see how all these characters actually come together.Avengers: Doomsday (2026) opens exclusively in theaters on December 18, 2026, bringing some of Marvel’s most iconic heroes together for another enormous MCU event. We’ll see returning Avengers, members of the Fantastic Four, familiar X-Men characters, and plenty of other heroes sharing the screen.
