I understand everyone’s sentiment, but in trying to play devils advocate I decided to look up what the rent in the “forest park” area is. My search brought me to forest park, St. Louis, MO, where I was shocked to find studio apartments over $2000 a month and 1 bedroom apartments for way more. (I will note that there are some for much more reasonable rent, but not knowing the area it may be that “forest park” is the “good” part of town and that is why it is more expensive). Based on this information, I find it possible that a retiree who wants to live in the “good” part of town but can’t afford the higher rent might be willing to agree to an arrangement like this in order to save some money. (I am not suggesting that droves of retirees would be willing, but maybe one or 2 might find this situation tolerable. Personally I would just live in the less desirable part of town and have my own bathroom, but that’s me…
