Dylan Cease is a man of many talents.Typically, he’s known for being the Toronto Blue Jays‘ ace — an integral part of their playoff push and collecting Cy Young recognition along the way. Next week, however, it won’t only be his mastery with the baseball on display, but instead his prowess with the paintbrush.Cease and the Art Gallery of Ontario are launching AGO x Cease, which is a limited-edition merch collection that features Cease’s painting Eve of Toronto, available beginning Aug. 25, the gallery announced Friday. The gallery will also display the painting in person for one hour, with fans having an opportunity to see the art in person and speak to the artist himself. All proceeds will go to the AGO’s charitable mission.Cease paints in his free time, including doing a piece for Blue Jays manager John Schneider early in the season.“Eve of Toronto (2026)” was created on the cusp of his arrival in Toronto and has been hanging in Schneider’s office.“Painting gives me joy,” Cease said in a release. “It relaxes me. I am happy creating my paintings and very happy that they have resonated with the incredible fans across the GTA. To know that people will be able to enjoy my art and take home this collection is a thrill.” Files from The Canadian Press were used in this report
