HISA portal users were emailed Friday afternoon with a prompt to change their passwords beginning Monday, August 24 amid an ongoing data breach. Additionally, the email provides a brief update regarding HISA's security monitoring tools which will now trigger an alert for log in attempts made from different geographical areas and/or through different devices. The email reads, “Attention HISA Portal Users, as part of HISA's ongoing updates to its IT security systems, HISA will be prompting all users to change their passwords starting on Monday, August 24, after you log in using your current credentials. As part of this process, you will also be asked to verify the email address and mobile phone number associated with your HISA account, or you may update this information if it is out of date.In connection with these updates, we have increased the sensitivity of our security monitoring tools. As a result, you may have received a notification alerting you that there was an unusual sign-in detected on your HISA account. This may be triggered if you log in from a different geographical area and/or use a different device to log into your account. Within these emails, you will be asked to acknowledge if it was you who logged in, or flag it if it was not. If it was not you, you need to take immediate steps to secure your account.”This stems from a continued investigation into owner Marshall Gramm who has been charged with multiple rule violations, including fraud, following an investigation into the unauthorized access of confidential horse health information. The post HISA Requires Password Change For Portal Users Amid Ongoing Data Breach appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
