Yung Mulo defends Vinka against NUP fan boycott after Lugogo concert

Yung Mulo has weighed in on the online calls by some National Unity Platform (NUP)-leaning fans to boycott Vinka’s recently concluded concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval, saying the campaign reflected individual opinions rather than the official position of the political party.Vinka faced criticism from some NUP supporters after she stood by her husband, Nelly Witta, during the January 2026 general elections. Witta is associated with the National Resistance Movement (NRM), leading some fans to call for a boycott of the singer’s concert.Despite the online backlash, Vinka went ahead with the show and delivered a successful concert. According to Yung Mulo, however, fans have the right to make personal decisions about which artists or events they support, but such choices should not automatically be interpreted as a political party position. It is someone’s choice to say they won’t support Vinka, but it’s not the party’s position because they didn’t come out to decampaign her.The singer added that he would have attended Vinka’s concert if he had been in Kampala, noting that he has never viewed her as someone who has taken an active political role. Why Vinka keeps her bedroom off-limits to house helpsI know if I was in the city without much work, I was going to be at her show because I have never seen her stand for a political role.Yung Mulo also compared the situation to his own upcoming concert, arguing that artists can have supporters and friends across different political affiliations without their music or events becoming political battlegrounds. It’s like people refusing to come to my upcoming show because I’m NUP, yet I have many friends in NRM. That’s why I’m saying this isn’t about political parties, it’s fans choosing personal sides. @galaxytv_ug Yung Mulo Speaks Out On Fans Boycotting Vinka’s Live Concert! #JikonkoneFlexx ♬ original sound – Galaxy TV 𝐉𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐞!
