Civil Protection Department rescuers were called into action at Għar Lapsi yesterday afternoon after a person suffered from heatstroke and required medical attention.Members of Civil Protection Malta from Stations 1 and 5 responded to the incident, with a medical team from Mater Dei Hospital’s Emergency Department assessing the casualty at the scene.The person then had to be transported by sea aboard the CPD’s RHIB Delta 2 rescue vessel to a safe landing area.Once back on land, the casualty was transferred into an ambulance and taken to Mater Dei Hospital for further medical treatment.The rescue comes as Malta continues to experience particularly intense August heat, with temperatures this week expected to climb into the high 30s and “feels like” temperatures reaching above 40°C.Authorities have been urging people to remain hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to the sun during the hottest parts of the day and take extra precautions during periods of extreme heat.The condition of the person following their transfer to hospital has not been disclosed.Photo credits to @civilprotectionmalta•
