I'm not talking about serious stuff like gross food or rude service. i mean just those completely harmless, tiny details on a menu that rub you the wrong way for no logical reason. For me, it's the 'choice of fries or salad' trap. You see it everywhere. The menu lists a burger and says it comes with your choice of fries or a side salad. but when you actually order the salad, the server casually mentions its a $3 upcharge. i promise I'm not being cheap about it, and I'll gladly pay the extra three bucks. It's just the false equivalence that bothers my brain. why format them as totally equal options on the page if one of them is actually a premium upgrade? Just write 'comes with fries, or upgrade to a salad' so I know what I'm getting into. I was cleaning up some template copy in menuforma earlier today and caught myself staring at a line that did this exact thing. I suddenly realized I have a completly irrational hatred for it, and apparently, this is the tiny, meaningless hill I've chosen to die on. I know I'm definately overthinking it and most normal people just order their food and move on with their lives. But now I notice it every single time I eat out.
