Internal Liquidity Is Fuel. External Liquidity DecidesBitcoin / TetherUSBINANCE:BTCUSDTChartZenFXTwo levels on this chart. Both are liquidity. Only one of them decided anything. WHAT THE TWO LINES ARE Price spends most of its life inside a range. The range has edges — the highs and lows that contain everything else. Those edges hold external liquidity: stops tend to rest just beyond where the structure ends. Everything between them is internal liquidity: minor highs, equal highs, shelves left by a few days of chop. Orders tend to sit there too. They are just not the edge of anything. The solid line is external — the nearest unswept high above the range, printed on 21 July. Price did not go back to it for four weeks. The dashed line is internal — a shelf inside the range, tested again and again through late July and the first half of August. Every test was rejected. Same instrument. Same kind of order sitting above both. Completely different meaning. WHAT HAPPENED Through August price kept working the dashed line and kept failing. Each rejection sent it back down into the range, and each time the move stopped short — you can see the last one in the middle of August, where price turned before reaching the green line at all. That green line is the low from 1 August, and it starts where that low printed. In three weeks price never came back to it. The sell side of this range was never taken. Then, on 19 August, one 4-hour candle crossed the dashed line and the solid line in a single move and closed above both. Not a wick through them. A close above them. Every 4-hour close on this chart since has been above both lines. WHAT THIS IS FOR Before you trade a sweep, answer one question: was that pool inside the range, or was it the edge of it? Internal pool taken → the base case is continuation toward the external pool, not a reversal of the whole picture. Internal liquidity tells you which way price is travelling. It funds the trip. It does not choose the destination. External pool taken → this is the decision, and now the candle body answers it. Closed back inside means rejection. Closed through means expansion. And notice which side went. The side that had been getting tested for weeks was not the side that broke. Retrospective analysis of a completed move, not a forecast.
