LASK had it all to do in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League qualifying round second leg against Celtic and used a dramatic comeback to complete the job. Sam Adeniran scored twice while George Bello also played the full 120 minutes as LASK defeated the Scottish champions 5-1 on the night, advancing 5-4 on aggregate. It marked the first time in LASK’s history that they’ve reached the league phase (group stage) of the Champions League. American defenders Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers both endured heartbreak with Celtic, with Trusty going the distance and Carter-Vickers logging 90 minutes. Following a 3-0 first leg win in Glasgow, Celtic struck first in Austria as Callum McGregor propelled the visitors in front after 22 minutes. Hyun-Jun Yang teed up McGregor, who made no mistake to give Celtic a 1-0 lead and 4-0 aggregate advantage. However, LASK wouldn’t hang their heads and eventually start a rally through Moses Usor’s equalizer 11 minutes later.Robert Ljubicic continued the LASK comeback three minutes after halftime before Adeniran netted his fifth goal of the season in all competitions to make it 3-1 on the night. Adeniran came close to scoring his second goal of the night but watched as his left-footed volley rattled the crossbar and went out off of the leg of Viljami Sinisalo.Florian Flecken came off the bench to score late for LASK though, helping the Austrian side force extra time. 22': LASK 0-1 Celtic (0-4 agg.)33': LASK 1-1 Celtic (1-4 agg.)48': LASK 2-1 Celtic (2-4 agg.)58': LASK 3-1 Celtic (3-4 agg.)90+2': LASK 4-1 Celtic (4-4 agg.)INSANE COMEBACK FROM THE AUSTRIAN CHAMPIONS ARE WE'RE GOING TO EXTRA TIME ON @PARAMOUNTPLUS pic.twitter.com/0O1Qc0OI41— CBS Sports Golazo (@CBSSportsGolazo) August 25, 2026 Adeniran made amends for his earlier miss by delivering the winning goal. Celtic will drop into the Europa League’s league phase after enduring one of its worst moments under manager Martin O’Neill. Both teams will turn their attention back to league play on Saturday with LASK facing Rheindorf Altach and Celtic taking on Falkirk. Florian Flecker would come off the bench and force extra time as the 30-year-old finished off a rebound in the box to make it 4-4 on aggregate. VAR took a look at the play for a potential offsides on Flecker, but ruled a valid goal, putting Celtic in a worrying position. Carter-Vickers was substituted off after 90 minutes and watched the 30 minutes of extra time from the sidelines.
