Haji Wright’s 2025-26 campaign not only earned him English Premier League promotion but a spot in the EFL Championship’s highest honor.Wright was named to the PFA EFL Championship Team of the Season, the PFA announced Tuesday at their annual award ceremony. The U.S. Men’s National Team striker is currently injured at Coventry City, but it didn’t stop him from receiving additional recognition for a stellar campaign. The 28-year-old scored 18 goals in Frank Lampard’s squad last season, helping Coventry City win the second-division title. It marked the first time in 25 years that the Sky Blues sealed a return to the English Premier League. Wright scored nine goals during the first half of the season before also netting nine more from January onward. His top performance came against fellow promotion chasers Middlesbrough on February 16, where he tallied a hat trick in a 3-1 win. Since joining the Sky Blues from Turkish side Antalyaspor in August 2023, Wright has scored 49 goals in 124 appearances for the club.There is no timetable for Wright’s return this summer or fall, with Lampard previously stating he could miss as much as 12 weeks. Coventry City’s EPL campaign got underway with a tough 3-0 loss to reigning champions Arsenal last weekend.
