Xagħra’s pre-festa celebrations were plunged into darkness on Friday evening after a power cut hit a large part of Gozo. A screenshot from Enemalta’s live outage map at around 8:20pm showed a large high-voltage outage area covering much of central and western Gozo, including areas around Victoria, Xagħra, Żebbuġ, Għarb, Sannat and Xewkija.The disruption comes as people gather in Xagħra for pre-festa celebrations ahead of the locality’s upcoming feast.Despite the darkness, footage from the scene shows people staying out and using their phones to illuminate the area.The cause of the outage has not yet been confirmed.•
