The Saudi-based operation will again team up with Sadler with another debuting son of Flightline, Ala Sawab, who faces four rivals in the opener at Del Mar Saturday.The colt, who has been working strongly at the oceanside oval, was a $400,000 purchase by bloodstock agent Pedro Lanz at the Fasig-Tipton October sale last fall.“We are very happy with the way this colt has been performing,” Lanz said. “He has shown a lot of talent in the mornings. What really amazes me about him is the length of his stride. He is a colt with extraordinary reach. He has always shown a good mind and, in short, he has given every indication of being a special colt.”Purchased from the Denali Stud consignment as part of the complete dispersal of Woodford Thoroughbreds, the colt is out of stakes winner and graded-placed Message (Warrior's Reward).Lanz also signed the $2.1-million ticket on Inshallah at the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May sale earlier this year.“As for Flightline, I have said it many times, I believe he is going to make history as a stallion, just as he did as a racehorse. The little we were able to see during the 2-year-old sales season, and so far on the track in Japan and here in America, is a clear sign of what is coming. I think we will see many sons of Flightline competing in the best juvenile races this year. It will be something to see.”Also debuting Saturday at Del Mar is Riccelli (Nyquist), purchased by the Front Row Club, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stable, et al partnership for $850,000 at last year's Keeneland September sale and trained by Bob Baffert. He is out of Iaintfraidanoghost (Ghostzapper).“He was named after the one and only Rita Riccelli,” confirmed Front Row Club's Tom Ryan. “We are definitely looking forward to getting him started. It would have been preferable to have had a run under his belt already, but here we are.”Ryan continued, “Six [furlongs] is a good spot to get this colt up and running. Hopefully, he will acquit himself well. He has been training well for the debut and we would hope he wants an extra few furlongs in time. As you know, sometimes there are very short fields in California, but they are often deep with class. I believe this is one of those types of races.”Baffert also sends out Cicero Farms' homebred Emancipate (Uncle Mo), who was fourth after a slow start and traffic troubles in his 5 1/2-furlong debut at Del Mar Aug. 15. The bay colt is a son of GI Ballerina Stakes winner Marley's Freedom (Blame) and his half-sister Hope Road (Quality Road) captured that same race last year. Ron and Barbara Perry of Cicero Farms opted to take the colt home after bidding stalled at $800,000 at last year's Keeneland September sale.
