Fresh concerns are being raised over the presence of caravans and seemingly semi-permanent setups at Ġnejna Bay, with new photos showing everything from artificial turf and barbecues to furniture and other belongings surrounding the vehicles.The photos, taken last week and shared with Lovin Malta, show several caravans accompanied by tables, chairs, boxes, covers and other equipment, prompting questions over whether the area is being used for more than temporary recreational stays.Some of the caravans also appear to be supported on blocks, while belongings can be seen stored around and underneath them.Elsewhere, photos show furniture, bottles and assorted objects left among the surrounding vegetation, hardly the sight visitors might expect at one of Malta’s best-known natural bays.And this is far from the first time concerns have been raised over caravans at Ġnejna.The issue has repeatedly made headlines over the years, amid questions surrounding enforcement and the prolonged occupation of land in the area.In January, it was reported that police had contacted the owners of 13 caravans situated on private land at Ġnejna.Four were reportedly removed, while charges were issued against the owners of the remaining caravans.But months later, the latest photos are once again raising questions over what has happened since that enforcement action, and whether enough is being done to prevent long-term occupation of the area.Among the questions being raised is whether caravans are authorised to remain at Ġnejna for extended periods and whether the artificial turf, furniture and other equipment surrounding them is permitted.There are also questions over which authority is responsible for carrying out regular inspections and monitoring issues such as waste disposal, sanitation, cleanliness and potential environmental damage.The latest scenes have renewed calls for clarity over who is ultimately responsible for monitoring the area and what action, if any, is currently being taken.What do you make of the situation at Ġnejna Bay?•
