Senior Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have forced a caucus meeting to demand further answers from Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin over allegations levelled against him by Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.JoyNews understands that the meeting, scheduled for this morning, Monday, August 24, comes amid growing concerns among some senior NPP MPs following the allegation made by Mr Gyamfi while responding to claims of losses against GoldBod.Mr Afenyo-Markin has denied the allegations and initially indicated that he was considering legal action over what he described as defamatory attacks, including being labelled an “extortionist”.However, less than 24 hours after his initial threat, the Effutu MP appeared to soften his position when asked whether he would indeed take Mr Gyamfi to court over the comments.The developments have, however, done little to calm concerns within the NPP parliamentary caucus, with some senior MPs demanding further clarification from their leader.The caucus meeting is expected to take place ahead of Parliament’s sitting later today, following the Speaker’s recall of the House for urgent parliamentary business, with members expected to seek answers and determine their position on the matter.
