Minister Balaam and Movit officials unveiling the classroom blockMovit Foundation officially handed over the five-classroom block to the school as part of an initiative to improve the learning environment and create broader economic and skills development opportunities within the community.For pupils of Kadindimo Primary School in Bunyangabu District, five newly constructed classrooms represent additional space for lessons. They represent an investment in what children from the community could become.The project holds particular significance for the Foundation because Bunyangabu is home to its Founder, whose primary education journey has its roots in the area.That connection has turned the project into both a community investment and a story of giving back, bringing resources and opportunity back to a place that helped shape the beginnings of one of Uganda’s homegrown business journeys.Guest of Honour Hon. Balaam Barugahara said the project sends an important message to children growing up in communities such as Kadindimo.“Every child deserves the opportunity to dream beyond his or her present circumstances. A child sitting in a classroom in Bunyangabu today can become an entrepreneur, a doctor, an engineer, a teacher or a national leader tomorrow. Our responsibility is to ensure that lack of opportunity does not stand between that child and their potential,” Hon. Balaam said.He also challenged parents and community leaders to match investment in physical infrastructure with greater commitment to keeping children in school, supporting their education and protecting the new facility.The classroom block is also leaving an economic footprint beyond the school. More than 78 members of the surrounding community were employed during construction.The 5-classroom blockLocal workers also received practical training in interlocking brick technology, equipping them with skills applicable beyond the Kadindimo project.Movit Foundation Board Chairman Dr Bruce Mpamizo said this combination of education, livelihoods and skills illustrates the kind of community impact the Foundation seeks to create.“A classroom is valuable because of what happens inside it, but we are equally encouraged that the process of building these classrooms created opportunities outside them. People worked, earned an income and acquired skills. That is how a single investment can begin touching different parts of a community.”Dr Mpamizo said the Foundation hopes the true legacy of the project will become visible over the years as generations of children pass through the classrooms and go on to create opportunities for themselves and others.The school received 90 desks and a classroom block constructed from interlocking stabilized bricks manufactured on site. The project also included a monument and external works to improve drainage, access, and the integration of the new infrastructure into the school.The donated desksWith construction complete, attention now shifts to ensuring that the school and community preserve the facility so that the investment continues serving children for generations.For Kadindimo, the handover therefore marks more than the completion of a construction project.
