Brighton have announced that a fan has sadly died after being taken unwell at their match against Aston Villa on Sunday.The 72-year-old supporter was leaving the Amex Stadium to board a bus following the Premier League game when he fell ill.Brighton announced the very sad news on Sunday evening after the matchGettyIn a statement, Brighton wrote: “Following today’s game against Aston Villa, sadly a 72-year-old male Brighton and Hove Albion supporter passed away after the match.“The gentleman took unwell as he was leaving the stadium to board a supporters’ club bus in the coach park. “Despite the best efforts of emergency services and club staff, the medical team were unable to save him.“South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics, St John’s Ambulance, Sussex Police, MB Medical Solutions, the club’s crowd doctor and our stewards worked together to ensure the individual was given the best possible care, including prolonged CPR on the scene.”Brighton’s chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said: “What should have been an ordinary and happy journey home ended in heartbreaking circumstances, and we are all shocked and saddened by the loss of one of our supporters. “We extend our sincere condolences to the gentleman’s family and friends.”Many fans sent their condolences to the supporter too, after the club announced the sad news on social media.
