Rock legend Bret Michaels had to give fans a bit of devastating news. He returned to the stage on Friday, August 21st for the first time since removing a kidney stone in July. However, just a day later, he revealed that he has to step away from the stage again for the foreseeable future.“Doctors and paramedics determined immediately after the show that he still needs additional rest and recovery from his recent surgeries,” a statement read on Facebook. “Bret will be taking the next several months off to heal and get back to 100%.”His doctors, Dr. Abby Borhan and Dr. Patel, listed the medical reasons why Bret Michaels should take it easy for a while. Given how brutal the summer can be, his kidneys need time to properly recover. That way, his blood sugar levels aren’t radically affected.“We will be pulling Bret off the road for the time being. He wanted to attempt this show, but we feel there is a much-needed period of rest and slow recovery ahead,” they advised. “Especially considering the heat and humidity during the summer months and the effect it can have on his blood sugar levels.”Bret Michaels Steps Away From the Stage To Recover From Kidney StoneMichaels received a hefty outpouring of kind comments, wishing for a speedy recovery. Additionally, some fans even shared their own experiences with type 1 diabetes and how it can radically affect the body.“I know the long term effects this disease takes its toll on your body, internally as well as others mentioned. With that understanding WE, as your long term fans only want the best outcome. Yes, we want you well enough to perform again, but that can’t happen unless you take care of yourself,” one fan wrote to Bret Michaels.“This came across my feed. Sugar is a huge issue if many I love struggling with the same exact thematic baseline. Health is Wealth is key and choosing it over pleasing others is the true music in beauty out of bruises. Take it easy. Peace and rest!” another person wrote. Bret Michaels himself took to the Facebook comments too to thank everyone for their kind words. “There are not enough words to tell you how much your incredible messages mean to me. In my nonstop spirit to go out & do what I love – which is to play music and to see all of you, all my family, friends and fans & meet everybody…it’s what I truly love – I may have just chosen to go sooner than I should have. We will come back better than ever. And I say this with much love and respect to everybody!” the rock star wrote.
