Magic: The Gathering has left its Marvel set behind already, but it’s still a great time - and we’re seeing price drops. Aside from a hefty Commander Bundle discount, the return fo Jumpstart Packs has seen a box full of them drop to almost an all-time low.Having previously reached $115, I felt sure the time to snag one was over. With the box having climbed to $185 at Amazon around launch, it’s now back down to $119.99, offering 24 packs to build decks from - a discount of 28%.Magic’s Marvel Jumpstart Packs Get a Serious Price CutAs we’ve pointed out previously, you probably won’t find expensive chase cards or alternate art treatments in Jumpstart packs. Those are traditionally reserved for Collector Boosters, which are not only much more expensive but, sadly, usually out of stock.Instead, each pack contains cards that fit a certain theme and include land cards within so you can rip two packs open and get playing by putting the cards together. This discount means you can go halves with a buddy and get 12 packs each (enough for 6 Jumpstart Decks), making it a quick way to, well, jumpstart your games of Magic. This pricing means each pack comes in at around $5, so you’re saving on the MSRP on a per-pack basis, and some of the Jumpstart themes are rarer than others. There are also some really cool card designs, like Doctor Doom, Unrivaled, and Reed Richards, Smartest Man.For more on the Marvel Super Heroes set, be sure to check out the most expensive cards from the set, and for wider Magic discussion, check out why Foundations precons are a great idea.Lloyd Coombes is an experienced freelancer in tech, gaming and fitness seen at Polygon, Eurogamer, Macworld, TechRadar and many more.
